Catalunya

© Joan Pujol Creus

This coming October 1st marks the 5th anniversary of Catalonia's challenge to organize an independence referendum.

A small region with 7.5 million inhabitants, prosperous, with a different language, history and culture, integrated within the Spanish state.

On October 1st of 2017, 750 people were injured in a brutal repression by the police; thus becoming the most serious crisis of Spanish democracy since the end of the Franco dictatorship in the seventies.

The events that occurred that day did not make anything clearer, except that they had left supporters of independence or opponents of it, more hardened and polarized than before.

The photographic project, through propaganda posters torn over time, traces of graffiti, popular actions, wants to place us in the current moment of this country.
