Centre Bounce

Teams and families can travel up to 1000 km for a weekly game, players paint their names and numbers on their cars, kids and dogs line the boundary line like interchange players, the desert landscape becomes the changing-rooms and team lists are drawn into the red dirt instead of whiteboards…
Indigenous football is about community and place.
Photographed over a five-year period throughout remote indigenous communities of the Central Australian desert along with the Tiwi-Islands and the Top End of Australia the series Centre Bounce features a Foreword by leading indigenous player Michael Long, an Introduction by journalist and author Martin Flanagan and an essay on Desert Footy by musician and writer Neil Murray.
