Diwali

Diwali / Deepavali, also known as Festival of Lights, is a festival that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil across various regions in India in Hinduism, Jainism and Sikhism. Houses are decorated with rangoli (colorful patterns) and diyas (oil lamps) are lit to mark the week of festivities where families come together in worship and communal dinners.   In 2021, Shravya Kag photographed the  celebrations of Diwali across the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan in New York City.
