Haiti: Sunday's Best
© RiverboomAs anybody in the fashion industry will tell you, style is not a matter of opinion. And Haitians have style to sell. For those intrepid enough to go beyond the image of misery, Haiti holds the discovery of a proud and very image-conscious people.
Riverboom’s Edoardo Delille and Paolo Woods went fashion scouting in the place where it all happens: the Sunday service. In the Baptist church of Bergeau, in the southern city of Les Cayes, the church aisle becomes the catwalk. All ages don their very best, a mix of a limited selection of second hand clothes from North America, cheap Chinese imports, and a local flair for arrangement. Trendy accessories such as bibles and hymnbooks are de rigueur.
Watch out Anna Wintour, Haiti is the next hotspot for international fashion!
