Jaimy Gail

location: Amsterdam, Nederland

Jaimy Gail‘s work revolves around the representation and misrepresentation of women. She makes staged yet intimate portraits of women and gives a twist to the well-known portrait by turning it into a socially and politically critical one. With her portraits, she questions the socially accepted, or “normal” image of women. She is looking for the limit of the (sub)conscious understanding of the socially accepted and challenges their boundaries.
She exhibited her personal work at Les Rencontres de la photographie Arles, El Barrio’s Art space New York, Unseen Amsterdam and Photo Vogue Festival Milan. The distinctive style she implements within her commissions and has worked with Vogue Italia, Vogue China, ID-Magazine, British Journal of Photography and brands like Nike and Tommy Hilfiger.
