London Colour

© Joshua K. Jackson

Photographer Joshua K. Jackson uses colour to highlight the diversity and disparity hidden within London life.

Jacksons use of a bold palette helps illustrate the vibrancy of life in Central London, whilst also exploring themes of diversity and disparity. His thought provoking work, often enters into abstractionism and presents the viewer with an unfamiliar view of a familiar city.

Using colour is as much about capturing the energy of the city, as it is the harmony and disharmony across London. There are extremes of wealth and poverty, combined with a vibrant mix of traditions, ethnicities and faiths. These aspects of life create a fascinating environment.  The pace of change in London is remarkable. It’s a city that's constantly evolving, with demolition and construction all around you; you can feel a tension between the traditional and the modern.
