Los Angeles Food Courts

© Lauren Greenfield

"The Los Angeles food court" explores the diversity and everyday reality of a "geo-cultural" phenomenon that is central to the way we eat and socialize in urban areas. The food court represents who we are as multi-cultural consumers. It is the natural expression of the American Dream, a highly developed fast-food culture, and the mall's arrival as the new city center. The food court is the community watering hole that makes an outing to the mall "an experience" rather than a mere shopping trip.
