Palestine Versus Israel

© Riverboom

It’s very unusual that images from the Middle East make us smile, particularly ones concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But Edoardo Delille manages to pull off this trick by applying one of the mantras of Riverboom: look and compare.

In these series you will not find violence, blood, or soldiers; you will instead find two worlds so different that you could be excused for thinking they are thousands of kilometers apart instead of geographical neighbors forced to share the same land.

Most of the time, if we look at the two countries lying on the opposite sides of the separation wall, words do not have the same meanings, leisure time is spent differently, and the latest fashions are dissimilar. A traditional and underprivileged society on one side, a globalized and oblivious one on the other, in spite of the threat looming over both.

But even so, there is an occasional similarity, a little something hiding in these images of Israel and Palestine that on certain days still makes us believe that peace is possible.
