The Narrow Sea
© Emily GrahamThe Narrow Sea is a series of photographs made on the English Channel, on ferry journeys between England and France. In a culture of cheap air travel, the ferry already feels like a nostalgic mode of transport. I use this journey as a space for reflecting on the broader socio-political story of this route; considering the channel as England’s connection to mainland Europe, the shared space between England and France, and the fracture in this connection in the aftermath of the UK leaving the European Union.
The pictures were made following the Brexit vote (2017 onwards).
