Don’t Just Tell Them, Show Them

© Jesse Marlow

Set in the urban environment and inspired by the banality of modern-day existence, Jesse Marlow’s series Don’t Just Tell Them, Show Them is a sweeping study of suburbia, abandonment and daily rituals.

“This series is a visual reaction to encounters in my daily travels. I never leave the house with preconceived ideas of what subject I am looking for or where I might find a certain shot. Some days I come home with nothing and others where I’ve captured a moment that will be with me forever. It’s the uncertainty of this style of photography - searching for ambiguity that lies just below the surface - that continues to motivate me.”

Shot over a nine-year period on the streets of Australia and abroad, Don’t Just Tell Them, Show Them has been exhibited worldwide and was published as a book by M.33 in 2014.
